So long and thanks for all the fish
Thanks guys, its been fun. As you have noticed I just don't have the time and inclination to do much blogging anymore. I barely have time to read half of the blogs that I am subscribed to. This current Xanga incarnation of my blog has been going on now for over 5 years. While I was in college, I had all the time in the world for using and abusing the internet. Even the last couple years I had more time, but now I just don't have the time. I always said that when blogging became a pain and something I felt I had to do, I would stop. Guess what. I am stopping.
Maybe a few years down the road you and I will run into each other again on another blog of either mine or yours, but for now, www.xanga.com/afreaka_boy is no longer going to be updated. I am going to leave it open so people can read the archives and I can continue receiving my daily blogfix.

Many of us are blogging less. I guess I shouldn't be surprised. We all have our own lives and blogging is the least of our worries especially since we do not make a living at it. Like Buddha I have a couple other blogs that I write.....in frequently. I have one blog that I intended to become my primary "thoughts about" blog while this current one would be relegated to daily life and gripes and whatnot. I just don't have the time nor effort to put into it, so you get this
(for now).
I am moving. Actually it is more like I am partially moved and partially not...still. My books are boxed up (most of them) but I have no place to put them in the new apartment yet. When I get my couch and loveseat (or as I call it, the cushioned horizontal file folder) into the new place, that along with my air mattress will take up most of the space in the apartment. My bookshelves are going to be rather hard to shoehorn in, but I can do it. There is no way that I can keep the entertainment center or (even worse) my old-school wicker seat rocking chair - I w/don't even have a porch or balcony to put it on anymore! My cooking habits are going to have to change. I no longer have the space to do one grocery trip per month. My spice box will rest on top of the fridge because the pots and pans and plates and cups will be in the cupboard. Also I won't be able to laundry at night anymore (just like vacuuming) unless I want to drive to an all night washateria.
Oh yeah, I got pulled over by the cops after church tonight. They asked if they could inspect my car. Thats the first time since I started driving the kia that I have had a drug inspection (maybe it was my texas plates). Fortunately I know the drill from my old toyota "weed" wagon (painted in various colors from the kenyan flag...or Rasta whichever explanation makes it clearer for you). I had nothing to hide, so thirty minutes later a very disgruntled officer (since he didn't find anything) let me go with a "warning"....He CLAIMED I ran a red light. The light was green and turned YELLOW when I went through it. While the cop turned around the guy immediately behind me turned into a McD's.... *grumble* I didn't even know Centerton HAD drug sniffing dogs!

Testimony time: (some of you read this on FB, so no worries)
There is no way I can afford to live in my current apartment as of mid-May. My lease runs out and they are jacking up the price on me, so no more massive discounts. I currently pay $463/mo without utilities and that is AFTER a $200 discount for taking an 18 month lease. They are willing to renew my lease a $585/mo. Also they are requiring a one-year lease at said rip-off. I began to look for alternate housing - even considering buying an RV and just paying long-term parking costs at an RV park. Did I mention that my apartment complex has been bought by another company and they are taking over everything as of MAY 1st?
At church last night a lady came up to me and asked my name. She had only seen me a couple of times and didn't know my name. Being polite, I told her my name.She looked at my face and then this is what she said:"Nathan, we have a studio apartment, our current renter moved out three weeks ago and right after she moved out, God put your face in my mind and said 'He needs a place to stay, offer him your studio apartment.' So I told my husband 'I think God wants us to rent the studio to that young man at church.' He said that you were fine and probably didn't need it, but I said I would offer it to you the next time I saw it. Do you need a place to live?"
What could I answer but, "Yes."
She smiled and went on, "It isn't much but its good for a single guy out on his own. How does $400 a month sound to you? It includes all utilities and cable and it's a quiet neighborhood. Are you interested?"
Again, what could I answer but "Yes!"
She then said "We can be ready for you to move in May 1st."
So Sunday I am heading over to take a look at my new residence, pick up the keys, and get to know Rocco and Eleanor, my new landlords.
Three weeks ago is when I really started praying about a place to live. Three weeks ago their old renter decided that she needed something bigger. Wednesday morning is when I told God that I wasn't finding anything and I could not see how I could afford to stay here, but I also couldn't find a decent place elsewhere and that He would have to take care of the details for me. Wednesday night, I met Eleanor and Rocco and she offered me the apartment. The new apartment management takes over on the 1st of May and I can move out/in on the 1st of May.
Can you not see the hand of God in this? It is staggering to me! What a glorious blessing indeed!

God certainly has been good to me. For example, I got back from Texas and I went to bed, when I woke up I was certain that I had forgotten to bring my guitar in the apartment and I had left it just outside the door when I unlocked it. I found it in my car! It has been an easy couple of nights at work (which is nice since I am still adjusting back to being on night shift) and I have managed to get a couple of quick naps.
God's mercies endure. Last night I went to church (since Wednesday night meeting happens at the right time and on the right road on the way to work) and I ran into a guy I hadn't seen in forever. He and I sat down and talked about some of what God is doing in our lives. It was a real encouragement.
God is faithful. I know that He will provide the means for me to live here or find a new place. My lease is up next month in this apartment and I am just waiting for God to provide. He will, I just hope it happens sooner than later. I have found that He likes being an "11th hour" provider.
I was disappointed by my time in Texas because I did not get the chance to try and further any reconciliation, but I was overjoyed because I met an awesome man of God with an amazing story at a Messianic Jewish Sader.
I realize that I talk too much about her, but I really do care for and love her deeply, and that hasn't changed. What has changed is me. I hope and pray that her new life is amazing and that God will bless her choice. I know that the man she has chosen is good for her in ways that I could never be and for that I am thankful. It doesn't remove the ache from my chest, but I am thankful that she found someone better than I - I always knew she deserved better. I don't mean to sound so juvenile by speaking so frequently about her, but she was one of the best things that ever happened to me and I am healing - slowely - and I am becoming more and more glad for the way things happened between us. I have too much time to think about this sort of thing of course, but I am. The man I am now is not the man I was then. I am older, sadder, wiser, and moving in a different life direction than I was then. Maybe it took the loss of her to get me moving where God wanted me to be going in the first place. I don't know, but He does. Glory be to God!
Anyways, I need to grab some supper and get some sleep.

I took a recent trip. It was delightful! I spent many hours of wonderful fun with my younger cousins in Indiana and I quite enjoyed my time with my grandfather.
The return trip was eventful only at the beginning. It took me a day and a half to catch my flight out of IND. I wasn't able to get on any flights to anywhere because every single flight was overbooked (and so were all the flights of the other airlines)! I finally managed to squeeze my way onto a flight to Chicago where I was able to get a flight to XNA and come home. I then had to pull an all nighter after traveling all day because I had to work. *sigh* But it was fun and most definitely worth it.
